Finally Flying to Uganda

Image
With the bags all packed up thanks to spare bags brought along by the Uganda Team 2023. We were ready to depart for Heathrow. The bags we stuffed full of Dean Close sports kit, rugby balls, basket balls, computers, projectors, arts and craft equipment and primary school books. The goodbyes were short and sweet, just as goodbyes are as your children get that bit older. Then it was all about having the music on; singing out loud and starting this epic journey. Getting Ready to go!

With only two days to go, it has been all about visas, passports and last minute kit checks. The pupil WhatsApp group has been a hive of activity asking about dry shampoo, malaria tablets and the really important things like what to wear on the flight.  The spare bags are being dropped off for us to pack with period pants, computer equipment and primary school english books.  The new itinerary looks incredibly exciting whilst also allows us to get to Nyakatukura Memorial Secondary School and lin back up with the phenomenal students that we have not meet for over 7 years.  We are taking a phenomenal group of students with us; we couldn't hand pick a better group of pupils to represent Dean Close School. We are hugely proud to represent the school on the trip and even more proud that these are the students that will represent us.  So let's get our super strong bug spray ready as we head from the Pimms and Prosecco of Speech Day and into the Pearl of Africa.
